Blood Supermoon (20th to 21st January 2019)

A total lunar eclipse is sometimes called a Blood Moon, because of the red colour the Full Moon takes. Blood Moon is not a scientific term. This one is also called supermoon, because it was at its closest point to Earth (perigee). The moon is usually about 384,000 kilometres away from Earth. On January 20-21, the moon was about 357,000 kilometres away.

The Jan. 21 total lunar eclipse will be the last one until May 2021, and the last one visible from the Basque Country until 2022.
