School is closed for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) our school will be indefinitely closed from today. So now you have to study and work from home. We are using Google Classroom to keep your skills up, communicate and stay organised. 

Please, remember you can still use our blog to keep practising your English.

TYLER'S LAST DAY WITH US

Today is Tyler's last day with us. He has just been in Amara Berri Morlans school for eight months, since October 2018. He has been very helpful to all of us, students and teachers. So THANK YOU, TYLER! We hope to see you again in 2019-2020 school year!

Chinese mission on the far side of the Moon

 Yutu-2 starts off its journey on the far side of the moon.

The Guardian reports that, about 12 hours after the landing, a small rover named Yutu-2, or Jade Rabbit-2, left the Chang’e-4 spacecraft and began exploring the crater, which is part of the South Pole-Aitken basin, one of the largest known impact structures in our solar system.

'Fortnite': The Latest Craze at school!

Yes, that is the latest craze among our students (especially boys). This online video game was first released in 2017. The game modes include "Fortnite: Save the World" and "Fortnite Battle Royale". This cultural phenomenon seems to be here to stay... until a brand new game replaces it, of course!

Rubik's Cubes, this year's craze at school!

Rubik's cubes are the latest craze. They seemed to be an old-fashioned toy, but they are not. For those of you who are interested in them here is a couple of web sites that will hopefully help you improve your skills. New 'Earths' found?

NASA announces seven 'Earths' found around one star, Trappist-1.

   

A new continent: "Zealandia".

Geologists say they may have found a new continent. They are calling it “Zealandia”.
The new study says Zealandia is hiding under New Zealand. About 94 percent is submerged in the ocean.
Geologists say it is bigger than India.

FRACTAL MENGER SPONGE

A lot of students at Amara Berri school  are building a great Menger sponge, made of 8,000 little cubes. Here you have an image to see one.

When they have finished we will take a photo to show you the result.

How it is constructed

According to Wikipedia, the construction of a Menger sponge can be described as follows:
1. Begin with a cube.
2. Divide every face of the cube into 9 squares, like a Rubik's Cube. This will sub-divide the cube into 27 smaller cubes.
3. Remove the smaller cube in the middle of each face, and remove the smaller cube in the very center of the larger cube, leaving 20 smaller cubes. This is a level-1 Menger sponge (resembling a Void Cube).
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each of the remaining smaller cubes, and continue to iterate ad infinitum.
The second iteration will give you a level-2 sponge, the third iteration gives a level-3 sponge, and so on. The Menger sponge itself is the limit of this process after an infinite number of iterations.
